NECA - Freddy's Furnace

With companies scaling back it's not too often we see big display bases or diorama pieces, it's definitely an aspect of some of the older collectibles that I miss.  Thankfully though, it's a trend that seems to be coming back.  With Diamond Select Toy's massive Munsters' staircase, NECA's Predator 2 trophy wall, and now this ANOES Furnace, I feel we could see more and more of these dioramas in the near future.

This display piece features fairly basic packaging, just a few stock images of the child killer with the furnace in the background.  I doubt MOC collectors will be swooning over this package anytime soon.

The first thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the box was just how light this thing is.  It's made (with what feels like) a very soft plastic.  Weight issues aside, the thing looks great!  NECA did a wonderful job recreating an old rusty furnace in a 1/8th form.

There a nice texture on the walls of the furnace simulating a thick rust, that mixed with a number of different paint washes creates an oddly realistic "old metal" look.

Did I mention this lights up!?  There's a small tea-light inside of the furnace that gives off a nice flicker.  The gated door of the furnace can also open and close.  A switch along with a battery door can be easily accessed on the bottom of the furnace.

This furnace diorama is a really great looking piece, if you've got a number of NECA's Freddy releases you're likely going to want to pick this one up to display with them.  My biggest issue is the cost, at close to $40 bucks it would have been nice had they included a base or a little something extra to cushion the price.  Given the size, weight, and features I feel this should be closer to $30ish.  Other than that, this is a great piece and something I could recommend to fans of NECA's ANOES series.

  1. Great review! I own this, but I haven't taken it out of the shipping box it came in! I'm moving soon, so I probably won't until then, so for now, I have your wonderful pics to look at. :) Thanks for the review. By the way, the retro Freddy looks pretty sweet!

    1. I'm certain you'll really like it once you get a chance to get it unpacked, thanks for reading the review!
