SOUNDS to make you SHIVER! A look (and listen) at an old Halloween SFX record!

Everyone loves a good Halloween sound effects record, right?  I know I do, and I feel that while lately companies have been doing a lot of right with the new Halloween products, kids today are in dire need of more Halloween SFX albums.  All I'm seeing are CD's collecting the same ol' tired movie theme tracks.  Boo.  Lonesome Wyatt from Those Poor Bastards had the right idea when he created Halloween is Here, a collection of Halloween-themed songs complete with ghastly hollars and spooky sounds.  Here's hoping that other people follow suit.

Until then your best bet is going to flea markets and yard sales where if you're lucky you might stumble upon something like this.

This record was put out way back in 1974 by Pickwick International, the artwork on this sucker is amazing featuring an old spooky castle, Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, witch, I could go on and on.  Essentially every creepy being you can think of is represented here in some form.

The back of the album is kind enough to warn you that not only is this "scary fun," but apparently after listening "you shall never return."  I wish other products had honest warnings like that.

I can't stress how nice this little record is, it might be beat to hell but it remains one of the cooler things I've found while rummaging around an old dirt floor flea market.

  1. I miss this record. Had it as a kid. Wish I could get my hands on it again.
