So Jesus, a green army man, and a child walk into a bank...Sounds like a bad joke, eh?  It's not, it's actually the beginning of Alex De La Igelsia's Witching & Bitching.  With alimony payments taking their toll, Jose (Hugo Silva) pulls together a makeshift band of nitwits to assist with a small heist.  Disguised as street performers, the group surprisingly almost pull it off, but ol' Jose had the bright idea of bringing his kid along for the ride.  Jose, Antonio (Mario Casas), and little Sergio (Gabriel Angel Delgado) collect their bounty and make a run for it, unfortunately Sergio leaves some school books behind, while the three manage to escape custody the school books lead detectives right to Jose's angry ex-wife.

The escape plan is simple, steal a taxi, grab a few hostages, and make their way to Paris.  Unfortunately for the group they must drive through the town of  Zugarramurdi.  What's Zugarramurdi you ask?  Only a legendary town rumored to be packed with witches.  The criminals are skeptical at first, after all witches are only make believe, right?  Soon the group discovers that there are things out there worse than alimony and jail time when they come face to face with a local coven of blood thirsty, man hatin' witches.

Witching & Bitching is probably one of the most enjoyable films I've seen this year.  Iglesia masterfully combines horror, satire, and comedy creating a very even horror comedy.  It's hard to get the horror comedy just right but Iglesia manages to do so as if it were second nature.  There's honestly not a mundane moment in the film, the two hours are packed with tight directing, clever writing, and memorable characters.  Witching & Bitching is the definition of "must-see."

The Story (02:36) - Alex De La Iglesia discusses the plot of the film.  This short featurette mixes footage from the film with clips of the director and behind the scenes footage.

The Characters (03:54) - The director returns to discuss the central characters of Witching & Bitching.

Heist in Puerta Del Sol (02:50) - With the last featurette the director gets into the making of the beginning heist scene.

Trailer (01:49)

The only real disappointment with this release would be the lack of special features.  While there are three short featurettes those looking for a more in depth look at the making of the film will be let down.  With that said, the film itself is amazing, one of the more clever horror comedies of the last decade.  Do yourself a favor and track down a copy of Witching & Bitching, you will not regret it!
